Coming right on the heels of the recent announcement that MeTV will launch a new channel airing Scooby, the MeTV Mall (the channel's official online store) has added quite a bit of brand new Scooby merch! The new merch includes a variety of different Scooby-Doo clothes, including t-shirts, hoodies, and tank tops. In addition, the store is also selling Scooby toys, including a few action figures, board games, jigsaw puzzles, and a Mystery Machine toy! All of the products are officially licensed. You can check out the new merch in MeTV's store here. Thanks Jinkies for the information!
Quite a bit of new Scooby-Doo content has made its way over to the free streaming service Tubi recently. This marks an exciting milestone for the service, as they now have all of the 1960s-2000s Scooby-Doo series with the exception of The Scooby-Doo Show and "Wednesday Is Missing". Laff-a-Lympics and Get a Clue, which were previously missing from the service, are now both available for free. No subscription is required to watch the episodes, and it is a free service that only has occasional ads. Interestingly, Straight Outta Nowhere: Scooby-Doo and Courage the Cowardly Dog was also added to Tubi, after being removed from Max a few months ago.
Some concept art from the Velma Halloween special has been shared, giving some information about what will be in the upcoming special. According to Diário do Scooby on Twitter, the Halloween specials will feature zombies, as well as a performance from the Hex Girls. While Thorn appeared in the second season, it is now confirmed that Dusk and Luna will make an appearance. This concept art comes from artist Nuri Durr's website, which also includes pictures of Scrappy and the Great Gazoo, who may appear in the special.
TheDesk reports that the television network MeTV will be branching out and launching a new channel dedicated to classic cartoons, called MeTV Toons. The channel will feature classic Hanna-Barbera toons including Scooby-Doo, The Flintstones, The Jetsons, and more. The channel will be launching on June 25, both on broadcast television and the streaming services Frndly and Philo. The press release was sent to Variety and TVLine yesterday. However, the articles were deleted because according to TheDesk, the press release was accidentally sent out too early. Since it has still been reported by a number of other smaller news outlets, I decided to make this post, however keep in mind that because the major news outlets did delete this article, there is a small possibility that plans will change for this channel since there has been no official press release confirming it.
The official website for the network is also now up: metvtoons.com Netflix has just announced via Deadline that they've picked up the next Scooby-Doo show, which will be a live-action reimagining of the franchise. The series will be written by Scott Rosenberg and Josh Applebaum, who recently also wrote a live-action re-imagining of Cowboy Bebop. The show is slated to be executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman, André Nemec, and Jeff Pinkner, as well as writers Rosenberg and Applebaum mentioned above. The show will be produced by Berlanti Productions, who is most famous for having produced The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and recently made the Netflix top 10 last week with Dead Boy Detectives. It's worth noting that the aforementioned listed series are all adult series with TV-14 or above ratings, so while the article doesn't officially confirm it, it is a likely possibility that this is an adult Scooby-Doo show. No other details about the show are currently known, other than the series is tentatively titled Scooby-Doo! The Live Action Series.

BATMAN AND SCOOBY-DOO MYSTERIES #7 Written by IVAN COHEN Art and cover by PUSTE $2.99 US | 32 pages ON SALE 7/3/24 The Scarecrow’s new fear toxin has Gotham City too frightened to function! Batman and Mystery Inc. are able to put off the inevitable for a while as they investigate, but soon they fall victim as well—except for Shaggy and Scooby-Doo, who seem weirdly immune. It turns out that always being scared has some advantages, after all. A trailer for Velma season 2 has been released on YouTube. The trailer reveals a few new plot threads for this season, including a serial killer targeting men, Norville feeling guilty about Fred's mom, Fred continuing his "Spooky Stuff Van," Daphne's parents warning the gang not to investigate, and a hinted romance between Fred's dad and Velma's mom. Thanks Zoinkss for the info.
Today, the Instagram account BR Open Ice, which is a verified account, posted a promo for the upcoming MultiVersus NHL game this Sunday at 3:30pm EST. While the rest of the ad was nothing particularly notable, one very noteworthy thing is that the ad shows Scooby-Doo's design in MultiVersus animation, meaning that the speculation back in 2022 that he is a character in MultiVersus may actually have some validity. Screenshots of Scooby's designs can be seen above, although the ad was fast-paced enough that these were unfortunately the clearest pictures of the design that we can see. You can watch the full ad here.
AnimationMagazine has revealed some additional information about the second season of Velma, along with a more official announcement of the show's return and a new poster (above). CBR has confirmed that the season 2 of the show will be posted on Max on April 25, and the full season will be posted that day. They've also shared the official description for the new season:
When an even spookier mystery grips Crystal Cove, Velma (Mindy Kaling) must find a way to balance her detective work with the demands of her newfound popularity before it’s too late. Meanwhile, her faithful friends Daphne (Constance Wu), Norville (Sam Richardson), and Fred (Glenn Howerton) are powerless to help thanks to their own personal battles and worse… Detention. |
